Ethically Sourced Leathers
Initially, when we encountered the concept of incorporating African leathers into our products, we instinctively dismissed the notion. The idea of using animal hides from Africa seemed controversial and potentially unethical. However, our perspective began to shift after we received detailed documentation from the government. This documentation emphasized the significant role these practices play in the conservation of African wildlife, compelling us to take a closer look.
Delving deeper into the matter, we discovered a sustainable and ethical process behind the sourcing of these leathers. When an animal dies naturally, Game Wardens, who are tasked with wildlife protection, swiftly respond to the scene. Their timely intervention allows the meat from the deceased animal to be salvaged and distributed to local villagers, ensuring that no part of the animal goes to waste and providing much-needed sustenance to the community.
Simultaneously, the animal's hide is handed over to a government-controlled tannery. This tannery operates under strict regulations and oversight, ensuring that every hide is meticulously tracked and monitored throughout the tanning process. This level of control and transparency reassures us of the ethical integrity of using these leathers.
Furthermore, the proceeds from the sale of our products, which include these ethically sourced leathers, are instrumental in supporting the salaries of the Game Wardens. These funds also bolster anti-poaching initiatives, contributing to the broader effort of wildlife conservation. By choosing to use these leathers, we are not only creating high-quality products but also playing a part in a larger, ethically responsible mission to protect and preserve African wildlife.
