You won’t see the majority of our flip flops on our website. We specialize in ultra-rare leathers, and on many occasions, we may only create one or two pairs out of a small hide that we may never stock again. These are purchased by communicating with us directly.
If you want to order something unique, shoot us a DM on Instagram. We're always here to help and we’re quick to respond.
Toehold uses a minimum 550-step process that’s done almost entirely by hand. We focus on perfection and precision — not speed. In a world of instant gratification, Toehold preserves the timeless tradition of patience and anticipation. The banner at the top of our website indicates the current lead time for a pair of flip flops.
That depends on you. Many customers are still wearing their first pairs after seven years. If you drag your feet even a little bit, the tread will grind off, which shortens the lifespan of the flip flops. Turn your flip flops over periodically and look at the tread, to ensure that you’re walking evenly.
Yes. Customizing flip flops usually entails creating a specific logo. The price of these pairs starts at $850 and can increase based on complexity and materials. To order a custom pair, send us a DM on Instagram or email us at orders@toeholdusa.com — we respond quickly.
Yes, returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 business days.
Toehold flip flops are made from high-quality American vegetable-tanned leather, sourced from a tannery that dates back to the mid-1800s. The tread is an American-made, slip-resistant vibram tread.
Sort of. Water isn’t bad for leather, but it’s important to know how water affects leather. Water is an integral part of the manufacturing process when tanning leather. When leather is wet, it can change its shape, so be careful not to manipulate or stretch the leather until it dries completely.
Some early pairs of Toehold flip flops are now in need of conditioning. However, creating a beautiful and timeless patina on the leather is desirable. We will offer select conditioning products on our website soon. In the meantime, you can use a damp cloth to wipe off excess dirt on newer pairs.
