Toehold Slides
Built for the road, the ranch, the range—and everything in between.
After outfitting the world’s toughest feet in the world’s best flip-flops, we finally did it. At the personal request of President Donald J. Trump—who owns two pairs of Toeholds—we went to work crafting the only American-made slides worthy of carrying the Toehold name.
Built with the same no-compromise approach that defines our flip-flops, these aren’t your average throwaway slides. These are slides for patriots, for professionals, for hunters, and for anyone who understands that comfort should never come at the cost of quality.
Every pair is handcrafted from the same full-grain American leather that built our name—stitched by hand for strength, bonded with premium adhesive, and backed by the same Vibram® USA tread that have taken our flip-flops around the world.
After a full day hiking ridgelines in boots or stalking elk through thorn-covered country, there’s nothing like sliding your feet into a pair of Toeholds at camp. Around the fire, back at base, or on the tailgate with your gear piled up—you’ll feel the difference instantly. Your feet earned this.
⸻
• Handstitched American Craftsmanship
Each pair is stitched by hand. No machines, no shortcuts—just skilled American hands doing it right.
⸻
• Full-Grain, Vegetable-Tanned American Leather
This is the highest grade of leather on Earth.
We start with full-grain hides—meaning the strongest, outermost layer of the cowhide, left uncorrected and untouched. No sanding. No coating. Just raw strength and natural character.
It’s tanned the old-fashioned way: using vegetable tannins—not harsh chemicals. This traditional process uses tree bark and natural extracts to preserve the leather, giving it a rich feel, an earthy aroma, and a patina that tells your story over time.
It’s tougher, more breathable, and dramatically more beautiful than anything mass-produced.
⸻
• Reinforced Industrial Bonding
We use a proprietary high-grade adhesive systems designed for lasting hold, heavy wear, and extreme conditions. Built to endure, not degrade.
⸻
• Vibram® USA Outsole
Military-grade traction trusted by America’s elite. Engineered for real-world terrain—urban or wild. Omnidirectional slip resistant.
⸻
• No Foam. No Fillers. No Compromise.
We don’t pad our products with cheap materials. Just raw, rugged components that outlast everything else.
⸻
• 100% Made in the USA
Designed, cut, bonded, stitched, and built on American soil by American workers.

Toehold uses a minimum 550-step process that’s done almost entirely by hand. We focus on perfection and precision — not speed. In a world of instant gratification, Toehold preserves the timeless tradition of patience and anticipation.
Most customers are still wearing their first pairs after many years.
Nothing holds up to our mileage. The length of time doesn’t matter, but what you're able to do in them matters.
We know of some of our customers that walk over 100 miles a week in the same pair of flip flops they’ve had for years.
Our flip flops have been to Machu Picchu, the top of Kilimanjaro, around Mount Fuji, been worn across lava flows in Hawaii, and even in combat..
These flip flops have been worn on hunting trips across the planet. Some people have even run ultra marathons in our flip flops.
To extend the life of your flip flops, simply pick up your feet when you walk. Similar to a car tire, you want to make sure your stride is balanced and in alignment.
We recommend turning over your flip flops periodically to check for wear. If one section is wearing out faster than the others, it’s important to correct your step.
There are two types of customization.
One is simply picking out exotic leather; for example, purple elephant straps with a black stingray base. This is more of selecting a custom combination.
The other type of customization is when a customer wants their company branding or specific logo to be embossed onto a pair of flip flops.
Please note that only cowhide can absorb the embossing.
Both of these can be acquired by simply messaging us to place a custom order.
Please contact us to place and order, custom embossing start around $895 and can go up depending on complexity.
We use two types of leather.
Our full-grain, vegetable-tanned cowhide leather is sourced right here in the USA.
Vegetable-tanned leather is created with a process dating back over 6000 years, using tannins made of tree bark, soil, and roots.
This method cures and preserves the leather and has long since been perfected, taking over three months to produce a single piece.
Today, only a couple tanneries in the US use this ancient method. These tanneries are the exclusive suppliers of our American leather.
We also use exotic leathers from some of the rarest animals in the world.
Exotic leathers are extraordinarily rare. Out of the few hides available globally each year, we only select the very best in the world for our products.
These leathers are so extraordinarily rare, most humans have never see this type of leather before.
We partner with parks in southern African countries to source these leathers. Every hide is CITES*-tagged and traceable from origin to finish.
Your purchase funds anti-poaching efforts, animal conservation, and veterinary costs. It protects endangered habitats and pays game warden wages, so they can continue to protect these majestic creatures.

The short answer is yes.
Do keep in mind that salt water is one of the most corrosive natural materials on Earth, and will eventually destroy anything with time.
For example, salt water will destroy a beautiful ship, a giant bridge, etc.
When exposing flip flops to saltwater, be sure to rinse them with fresh water and let it dry in the shade.
This also applies to any other item you take in the ocean.
